training and meeting and applying Ministry-imposed standards. Utilizing
clarification of the role, function and management of police services
boards, Kent can accelerate problem resolution through both formal

Fact
Finding/Consulting
Fact
finding is a highly unique service offered by Kent Laidlaw. The purpose
is to gather facts, deliver them to the client and facilitate an informed
decision. Objectivity and confidentiality are the touchstones for
Kent Laidlaw's consulting services. Assistance in many areas is offered
to organizations in both the private and the public sectors.
Victim
Services
Progressive
police services are identifying the importance of victim assistance
programs, enhancing the partnerships established with the communities
they serve. Kent Laidlaw & Associates advises victim service providers
to be pro-active and responsive to the complex demands of victim needs.
Working closely with the victims' movement, Kent gives training in
dealing with victims and survivors, particularly post-traumatic stress,
and in reducing the feelings of intimidation these situations can
produce. He is available to assist businesses and governments in learning
to deal with victims and survivors with empathy, understanding and
sensitivity.
Emergency
Services
As
one of the few Canadians to be certified by the National Organization
for Victim Assistance (NOVA) in Washington, D.C., Kent Laidlaw is
a trained crisis responder and grief counsellor. With this specialized
experience, he gives emergency services personnel - police officers,
fire fighters and health care providers - the information necessary
to cope with the tense and potentially volatile situations they confront
on a daily basis: training in crisis intervention, death notification
and media relations are but a few examples.
Educators
Recent
years have seen an increase in the number of dangerous and violent
incidents in the education system. The demands placed on educators
are high and require specialized training in identification, intervention
and prevention of traumatic events. Kent Laidlaw & Associates
has defined a specialized program for educators, based upon years
of experience in the police services and training of tragic event
response teams.
Bereavement/Grief
Counselling and Training
Kent
Laidlaw has developed a training model to address the need for sensitive
and compassionate notification of death or traumatic incidents and
the subsequent grief. As a Critical Incident Stress De-briefer and
one of the founders of the Bereavement Ontario network, he will train
others in this highly specialized area.

Assistance Programs
Kent

for employee assistance program needs. Specialized support and training
