Care for the Caregiver
"Taking Care of You: Stress Solutions", "Who's Stuff is This Anyway?" are interactive workshops which help participants to manage the stress of dealing with victims, survivors and incidents involving trauma. Stress avoidance and reduction techniques are key to long-term health.

How to Deal Effectively with Victims/Survivors
This workshop trains clients to communicate sensitively and appropriately with victims or survivors of all forms of trauma without further trauma or vitimization.

On-Scene Response to Critical or Traumatic Events
Canuckcare interveners are experienced, highly-trained professionals who specialize in defusing volatile situations and debriefing employees after traumatic events such as robberies, assaults, deaths or terminal illnesses. Studies show that early intervention is helpful to both employees and management accelerating healing time, minimizing workplace disruption and improving the corporate image. Canuckcare is available to respond to these situations on short notice, and at a variety of locations (the workplace or a neutral site depending on the circumstances.) We'll perform an objective evaluation, provide a trauma response component to your existing Employee Assistance Program and follow up where appropriate. We'll also provide telephone consultation and assist with referrals to other service providers where necessary. All of these responses are provided on a fee for service basis or in the form of a contract.

Death Notification with Professionalism and Compassion
This unique interactive workshop provides step-by-step instruction on the delivery of death notifications. Notifiers will learn to offer the most sensitive, informative and compassionate message possible by preparing properly and providing all available information to the victimıs family/friends. Theyıll learn sensitive behavioural techniques for everything from introducing oneself into the situation to offering ongoing support and exiting the environment. Our experts will also discuss the advantages of a good working relationship between mental health professionals, volunteers and law enforcement personnel. Finally, Canuckcare will offer debriefing techniques to ensure that Notifiers and their partners remain well after their task is complete.
